Emma Stone May Spend The Night At ‘Crimson Peak’

At just 24, Emma Stone has tackled an impressive mix of roles in her short acting career. Not only did she shoot to fame with her comedic punch and manage to earn dramatic cred for Oscar-nominated film “The Help,” but she’s also played the superhero’s girl and a gangster-film femme fatale. So what could possibly be up next for the overachieving Ms. Stone? Well, word has it that the actress might have her eye on a horror flick—Guillermo del Toro’s “Crimson Peak,” to be exact.

While nothing is official yet, Variety says the Stone is in early talks to join the film and is “expected to sign up.” Del Toro, who also co-wrote the script with Matthew Robins, will direct.

The project itself has been described as a haunted house movie of some sorts, but the plot still remains a bit of a mystery. When it was announced last month, the “Pacific Rim” director called “Crimson Peak” a “very set-oriented classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story” that would allow him to “play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.” The abbreviated version: Emma Stone in a complex, del-Toro-imagined haunted house movie. What’s not to love?

If all goes as planned, Stone will have quite the schedule ahead of her. She’s already set to begin shooting “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” and has two major films coming out this year: Star-studded sketch comedy “Movie 43″ (January 25) and DreamWorks Animations’ “The Croods” (March 22). “Crimson Peak” is slated to start filming in February 2014.
