Find Out How Long 'The Hobbit' Will Be

We now know exactly how long our first trip back to Middle-earth will last. In the latest issue of Empire (you can one of the five covers above), Peter Jackson confirmed the running time of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," a breezy 2 hours and 40 minutes.

"It's looking like it's going to be about ten minutes shorter than Fellowship was," Jackson said. "So it's going to be officially our shortest Middle-earth yet. I mean, Fellowship was just under three hours and this is about 2 hours 40 minutes at the moment."

That's a whopping 160 minutes, nothing for a Jackson-directed film with hobbits in it, but surprisingly long for just one installment of a thinly stretch trilogy.

But hey, we're not complaining. Especially when the new TV spot, which you can watch after the jump, looks this good!

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" opens on December 14.
