For all of the memorable roles Leonardo DiCaprio has disappeared into, he has never played a character on the level of Calvin Candie, the evil plantation owner in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming "Django Unchained."

We've seen a little bit from Candie in the first trailer from "Django," and DiCaprio looks like he's having some fun, chewing every bit of the scenery and looking good in pre-Civil War duds, like in this new photo (via The Playlist).

But that's only half of the picture when it comes to Candie. He is a very, very bad man.

The new snap shot takes DiCaprio's character further in the direction of what we'll see in the movie. Candie is a dark character and more of a bad guy than any role the actor has had before.

As you probably know, "Django Unchained" tells the story of a freed slave (Jamie Foxx), who falls in with a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) and struggles to find his still-captive wife. Candie is the man who recently took Django's wife as his property. As more footage is unveiled from the movie, we will begin to see that there is a lot more to Calvin Candie than the preview would lead us to believe.

"Django Unchained" is but one of two movies that DiCaprio will have in theaters this Decemeber. Both this film and "The Great Gatsby" will open on Christmas Day.
