Can you feel that anxious, caffeine-fueled, slightly sweaty energy in the air? It can only mean one thing: we're just about a month away from one of the biggest entertainment events of the year, San Diego Comic-Con.
As we inch closer and closer to the blissful July 12 start date (preview night being July 11), the official lineup of panels and guests is filling out quite nicely. According to Variety, this year's convention will be as action-packed as ever, despite the fact that several major studios will not yet confirm concrete plans.
Here's a rundown of the films that will most certainly make an appearance, as well as a few we think should.
Films that should be teased: "Thor 2" Yes, Chris Hemsworth is totally tired of doing press and promotion, but why not have an excitement-generating tease ahead of production with an appearance by new director and maybe the new villain?
Special appearance request: Joss Whedon. If only so he can do that convention hall victory lap people were twittering about recently.
Films that should be teased: "The Dark Knight Rises," because the Con is one week ahead of the film's release, it's likely the last one for Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale and they've never brought Batman to Comic-Con! And while we're fantasizing, I'd like to see more "Great Gatsby" footage too.
Films that should be teased: "The Smurfs 2" We kid, we kid! Maybe if "The Amazing Spider-Man" is still enjoying box office success at that point Sony will use their platform to announce sequel details?
Films that should be teased:"Hunger Games: Catching Fire" What a perfect way to end all the "Who should play Finnick?" casting chatter than by announcing it in Hall H and introducing that lucky actor to 5,000+ adoring fans?
As far as we know Fox and Paramount plan to sit this year out of the presentations and such, but our fingers are still crossed for some kind of newsy something about the next "X-Men" movie and the "Star Trek" sequel.
