Natalie Portman To Star In Western 'Jane Got A Gun'

Natalie Portman is lining up yet another big screen project, this time teaming her with "We Need To Talk About Kevin" helmer Lynne Ramsay. According to new reports, Portman is going to star in and produce Ramsay's upcoming Western, "Jane Got a Gun."

The Hollywood Reporter has the news, reporting that CAA is shopping the project around at the Cannes Film Festival. Apparently it has sparked quite the bidding war over there in southern France.

The movie follows titular character Jane after her outlaw husband returns to their home "barely alive and riddled with bullet wounds." She then is forced to turn to her ex and ask for his assistance in defending her home from her husband's gang, who are looking to finish off their former member.

It seems like Portman has been itching to work with a female director for a while now. She was reportedly upset after Marvel fired Patty Jenkins from "Thor 2," largely because she was excited about helping to facilitate the first female comic book movie director. Ramsay has already proved her worth with last year's "We Need To Talk About Kevin," so if "Jane Got a Gun" is half the emotional heavy hitter that that movie was, we should all be in for a treat.

"Jane Got a Gun" is not the only project Portman has on the horizon. She's also signed on to Terrence Malick's next two films and is of course also starring in "Thor 2," the upcoming post-"Avenger" Marvel movie that is being directed by "Game of Thrones" helmer Alan Taylor.
