Robert Downey Jr. Remaking ‘Perry Mason,’ Clint Eastwood Returns To Acting

Robert Downey Jr. and Warner Bros. are teaming up again, this time to remake “Perry Mason.”

The well-known material started out as a novel, then became a radio show, a TV series, a series of movies and another TV series. Variety broke the news, and says that Downey will star as the titular defense attorney who specializes in trial and criminal work. He was most famously portrayed by Ramond Burr from 1957 to 1966.

More Actors Flock To “The Silver Linings Playbook”
David O. Russell is assembling quite the cast for his new movie, “The Silver Linings Playbook.” Deadline is reporting that Julia Stiles has come on board the project, and that Chris Tucker has closed his deal to star in the film. They’ll be joining Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence in the cast.

Paul Walker Counts “Hours”
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Paul Walker is going to star in the post-Hurricane Katrina thriller “Hours.” The project will be the directorial debut of “The Thing” screenwriter Eric Heisserer. It will tell the story of a young father’s fight to keep his newborn daughter alive in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Clint Eastwood To Return To Acting
After three years of retirement, Clint Eastwood is back for more. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Eastwood will return to the big screen for the baseball drama “Trouble with the Curve.” This will be the first movie he’s acted in since 2008’s “Gran Torino.”

Javier Bardem To Play Animated Villain
Move over Jason Segel, there’s a new actor lining up to voice the villain in “Despicable Me 2.” The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Javier Bardem is in negotiations to voice the baddie in the upcoming Universal animated film. He’ll play a villain named El Macho. This will be his first animated role.

Aubrey Plaza Joins “Charles Swan”
Variety is reporting that Aubrey Plaza is in talks to star in Roman Coppola’s film “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III.” The movie will mirror the life of Charlie Sheen, and will follow a successful graphic designer whose life spirals out of control after he gets wrapped up in his fame and fortune. Jason Schwartzmann will play the titular character. Plaza will play Marnie, a producer who works at Swan’s company.
