’Underworld: Awakening 3D’ Gets a Trailer
Kate Beckinsale and her skin-tight catsuit have returned to the “Underworld” franchise, and while the trailer for “Awakening” looks like more of the same, it’s still loaded with action and vampy goodness. Beckinsale returns as Selene, who escapes a years-long imprisonment and enters a strange new world. Humans are fighting to exterminate vampire and lycan clans, which threatens to erupt in total war. Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein direct Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley and Charles Dance for the January 20, 2012 release.
Take a Bite Out of This ’Shark Night 3D’ Clip
It’s all fun and games until someone loses a foot. Relativity Media wants you to tear into this new clip from “Shark Night 3D”, which recently debuted on Fandango. The David R. Ellis eco-horror flick about a group of college friends who spend the weekend at a lake house in Louisiana promises to be “’Jaws'” for the 3D generation.” Sharks show up and people die. What more do you need? This clip finds “Red Dawn” star Alyssa Diaz as Maya, hanging onto a speeding boat for dear life while a shark stalks closely behind her. Swim with the fishes on September 2.
Relive Hammer Horror With ’The Woman in Black’ Trailer
Nothing says Hammer horror like foggy English villages, sinister specters haunting a mansion, and gothic scares. “The Woman in Black” has all of that and “Harry Potter’s” Daniel Radcliffe, who hasn’t appeared in a movie not about the wizard boy since 2007. He’s playing a young lawyer who arrives in a spooky, remote town to settle the affairs of a recently deceased client. While there, chilling tales about a mysterious woman in black prompt him to investigate her strange and unsettling story.
Thank Goth, Bradley Cooper is Not ’The Crow’
Goths everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief: as reported on Splash Page, “The Hangover” star will not be taking on the role of the undead musician-turned-avenger, Eric Draven. Cooper’s schedule is preventing him from shooting the movie that will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo of “28 Weeks Later” fame. Relativity’s possible replacements? Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum. Wait, what? Bela Lugosi’s dead — again — over this news.
A Classic 1980’s Slasher Film is Reborn
The 1980 classic slasher film, William Lustig’s “Maniac”, is a nasty little movie. You might even want to shower after watching it, because it’s just that grimy. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that “High Tension” and “Piranha 3D” director Alexandre Aja will be bringing back the sleazy original that starred a creepy Joe Spinell. Aja and writing partner Grégory Levasseur have written the screenplay and will be producing the film about a serial killer who stalks women on the streets of New York City, abusing them in ways similar to how his crazed mother treated him. “P2” director Franck Khalfoun will be helming the project. Check out the gory and gruesome trailer for the original “Maniac” over here.
