Russell Brand First Choice To Be In Diablo Cody's 'Lamb Of God'

Russell BrandHere's a pairing that comes wonderfully out of left field: Russell Brand could star in Diablo Cody's directorial debut "Lamb of God."

The news comes at us courtesy of Twitch, who learned that Brand has been offered the lead in the flick and that "Footloose" star Julianne Hough is the top choice to play the movie's leading lady. "Lamb of God" tells the story of a young conservative religious woman who loses her faith and decides to go to Vegas and "live the life of a sinner," but ends up finding her faith along the way.

Sarah Jessica Parker And Jessica Alba "Escape From Planet Earth"

The family-friendly "Escape From Planet Earth" just got a whole lot of voice talent headed its way. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Brendan Fraser, Rob Corddry, James Gandolfini and Craig Robinson have all signed on to voice character for the animated tale of an alien breakout from Area 51. The flick is directed by "Despicable Me's" Cal Brunker.

"Rock Of Ages" Stage Star Heads To The Movie

Constantine Maroulis, who originated the role of Drew Boley in the "Rock of Ages" musical, is headed to its big screen incarnation as well. Deadline is reporting that he won't be playing Drew in the movie since Diego Boneta got that role, but he will be playing a "prototypical '80s record executive." The entertainment news site also has a photo of Maroulis with director Adam Shankman and producer Matt Weaver.

Ben Foster Is John Gotti Jr.

Variety has learned that Ben Foster will be playing John Gotti Jr. in the upcoming flick "Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father." The film gained some momentum after John Travolta was cast as Gotti Sr. and Al Pacino and Kelly Preston joined the project. This will be the first time Foster has reteamed with director Barry Levinson since they worked together on "Pacific Heights."

Forest Whitaker And Anthony Mackie Take On Voodoo

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Forest Whitaker, Anthony Mackie, Mike Epps and Sanaa Lathan have joined the psychological voodoo horror movie that Philippe Caland is directing. The thriller follows Whitaker as a disturbed contractor who seeks help from and ends up terrorizing a life coach, played by Mackie. Production begins this week in New Orleans on the flick.
