The Judd Apatow staple and the former “High School Musical” star are butting heads in an untitled comedy where Rogen plays an average guy going toe-to-toe against Efron’s frat boy character. That’s a team up we never really expected to see, but it’s one we’re interested in seeing all the same!
Check out the rest of today’s casting news past the jump, including new roles for Harrison Ford and Jennifer Lawrence!
More “Cowboy” Action
Harrison Ford isn’t done with the wild, wild west. After finishing up his stint as grizzled Colonel Dolarhyde in “Cowboys & Aliens,” the erstwhile Indy is starring in “Black Hats,” a historical fiction flick that sees Wyatt Earp (Ford) rescuing the late Doc Holliday’s son from rising mobster Al Capone.
Lawrence Has A “Silver Lining”
The “Hunger Games” and “Winter’s Bone” star looks to be the front runner for the female lead in David O. Russell and Mark Wahlberg’s “The Silver Linings Playbook.” The movie focuses on a former teacher (Wahlberg) who tries to win back his ex-wife after he’s released from a mental hospital where he was treated for depression. Things get whacky thanks to the involvement of his eccentric neighbor, played by Lawrence.
“Pacific Rim” To The Max
Max Martini is the latest actor aboard Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim,” the director’s monster movie already starring Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day and Idris Elba. He’ll play part of the resistance against an alien invasion, Variety reports.
Cranston Hit By “Gangster”
Bad news for “Gangster Squad” watchers: “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston has had to drop out of the film due to his commitment to Ben Affleck’s “Argo,” director Ruben Fleischer tells Black Book Mag.
Not movie news, but awesome casting news nonetheless: John Goodman is joining the cast of NBC’s hysterical “Community” for a six-episode arc, playing the vice dean of Greendale Community College’s School of Air Conditioning Repair. Awesome.
