Maybe it’s too early to say this, but at this moment in time, it feels as though the young stars of “Harry Potter” will never experience this level of fan hysteria again.
Rupert Grint, who has played Ron Weasley for the past decade in the “Potter” films, seemed to be having an emotional time coming to grips with the fact that this is the end of an era for him when MTV News caught up with him at the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2″ red carpet. “I’m going to miss the screaming. You don’t get that everywhere, and I’m going to miss that definitely,” Grint said with a laugh. “I’m really going to miss playing [Ron] in these films.”
As fans here at MTV News, we feel like the feeling will definitely be mutual, so we decided to list off five things we’ll miss about Grint being a part of the “Harry Potter” movies.
His Affable Interview Responses
The Big Three “Potter” stars — Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint — have spent their formative years in front of the camera, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that they know their way around a press room. Grint has grown into a wonderful young man who is very charming during interviews (as evidenced by our red carpet coverage), and we’ll miss having an excuse to swoon over him every year during “Potter” press events.
His Collection Of Red Carpet Sneakers
Almost as infamous as his interview responses is Grint’s typical red carpet attire, which usually consists of a sharp-looking suit and then a well-matched pair of sneakers. We were pretty impressed by his dapper black snake-skin suit and dress shoe combo at the NYC premiere, but goodness we’d like to get a good look at Grint’s sneaker closet.
His Appreciation Of “Ginger People”
We have a gut feeling that Grint is never going to be able to live down his comment to J.K. Rowling thanking her for what she’s done for “ginger people,” and we’re perfectly happy with that. Fortunately, Grint and the rest of the Weasley clan have made our hearts warm to British red heads more than we ever thought imaginable. So here’s to keeping that appreciation going for many more years to come.
His Awkwardness In Kissing His Costars
“Potter” fans, I hate to break it to you, but there will come a day when Rupert Grint doesn’t feel uncomfortable kissing his costars. It’s a day we all dread, but it is coming, most likely sooner than we hope.
But There’s More To Come!
It’s no surprise that fans think Grint has the likeliest chance for success of all the “Potter” stars, and with his upcoming film line-up, we definitely understand why. Though Grint might not be promoting “Potter” films anymore, we still are lucky enough to have “Eddie the Eagle” and “Comrade” to look forward to, so we’ll relish in that good news until we see him again.
