Fortunately for us, Total Film has a badass interview with Richard Armitage about his role as the dwarf Thorin Oakshield. His hint: we’re going to be getting a whole lot more dwarves mythology than we witnessed in “Lord of the Rings.”
“The book is so focused on the dwarves, so I think it’s a chance for Peter [Jackson] and Fran [Walsh] to really look at that whole race in more detail, their heritage and what they’re like as characters,” he said. Sounds like a win to us!
In the news after the jump, Spike Lee looks into remaking “Oldboy,” a new “Three Musketeers” trailer hits the web and “Knights of Badassdom” head to Comic-Con.
Spike Lee To Remake “Oldboy”?
No amount of groaning has stopped Hollywood from trying to remake the South Korean hit film “Oldboy.” The latest rumor, which comes at us from Twitch Film, is that Spike Lee is in talks to direct the project. Mark Protosevich, the man behind “Thor” and “I Am Legend,” is writing the script, and Doug Davison and Roy Lee are planning on producing. But please, please… no.
“Oz” Projects Are In Serious Trouble
Warner Bros, in their efforts to protect the sanctity of some of their most beloved classics, may have destroyed our dreams of seeing “Oz The Great And Powerful” hit the big screen in the process. The Hollywood Reporter has a full write up on the copyright ruling that means that all visual depictions of any of the characters in “The Wizard of Oz” film counts as copyright infringement. Could spell trouble for Sam Raimi’s “Oz” and all the other related projects currently in development.
“Three Musketeers” Trailer Shows Off.. Airships?
It’s a “Three Musketeers” story like we’ve never seen it before. You can tell us whether you dig the fantastical twist on the classic Alexandre Dumas novel in the comments, but for now we’re just wondering if the tale of four musketeers battling an evil cardinal really needed airships or sexy Milla Jovovich as an assassin. Check out the trailer on YouTube here.
“Knights Of Badassdom” Heads To Comic-Con
What do “True Blood’s” Ryan Kwantan, “Game of Thrones'” Peter Dinklage and “Firefly’s” Summer Glau all have in common? They’ll be taking to the Comic-Con Hall H stage Saturday, July 23 at 2:15pm to present their new independent film “Knights of Badassdom.” Yes, it is a film about LARPing. And we couldn’t be happier. ComingSoon.net has a whole lot more news about the event here.
