New ‘Hobbit’ Image Reveals Gandalf And Bilbo Baggins

So sue us, we’re about as excited as you can get about Peter Jackson’sThe Hobbit” adaptation.

Fortunately for us fans, Empire is too. That’s why we’re pretty thrilled that “The Hobbit” is gracing the August issue of the mag (out June 30) with some brand new looks at Martin Freeman as Bilbo, Ian McKellen re-donning the gray robes as Gandalf, and tons of inside scoop from the set. It should at least tide us over until the flick’s Comic-Con panel.

In the news after the jump, “Prometheus” footage will be screened soon, a “Horrible Bosses” red band trailer hits the web and “Fast & Furious 6″ gets a new release date.

“Fast & Furious 6″ Becomes A 2013 Summer Blockbuster
“Fast & Furious 6,” meet Memorial Day. Memorial Day, meet “Fast & Furious 6.” You two are going to become fast friends now that Universal Pictures has decided that the success of “Fast Five” warrants the franchise a jump to summer blockbuster territory. Variety has the news that Universal has bumped the flick’s release date to May 24, 2013, which is just about a month later than “Fast Five” premiered this year.

“Prometheus” Footage To Be Screened At Cine Europe
One of the upcoming films we’re most looking forward to is Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus,” considering we’re still not too sure what the whole movie is about. Fox is going to be presenting some footage from the flick at Comic-Con this year, but today we learned from David Pinedo (via Alien Prequel News) of the Holland Film Nieuws that the studio will be bringing the footage to the Cine Europe expo first. Hopefully for us, there will be different footage shown at each event. Okay, we’re greedy, we admit it.

“Black Swan” + “The Social Network” + “Catfish” = “XOXO”
Hollywood wouldn’t be Hollywood if it didn’t insist on taking some of the strongest concepts from a previous year and rolling them into one upcoming film. Meet “XOXO,” a movie that from where we’re standing looks to be a combination of the stalker elements of “Black Swan” with the explorations into Facebook that we got in “The Social Network” and “Catfish.” Written by Mark Heyman and produced by Darren Aronofsky, “XOXO” tells the story of a twentysomething guy who starts a digital Facebook relationship with a female contemporary, only for things to spiral down into stalker territory fairly quickly. Okay, so there’s some “Fatal Attraction” in there as well. Thanks to the Los Angeles Times for the scoop.

“Toy Story 4″ Is In The Works
“Toy Story 3″ easily could have finished off the “Toy Story” saga with its tear-jerking ending, but Tom Hanks has the news that Woody, Buzz and the gang will be back for more excitement in a fourth installment of the series. When speaking with BBC’s Breakfast News (courtesy of Bleeding Cool), he answered the question, “Will there be a ’Toy Story 4’?” with “I think there will be yeah. Yeah, yeah. They’re working on it now. There you go.” Consider us a bit shocked, but it makes sense what with the success of “Toy Story 3″ and the continued strength of the film franchise.

“Horrible Bosses” Red Band Elaborates “Men Seeking Men”
There are too many reasons to love the new red band trailer for “Horrible Bosses” (out July 8!) that we can’t even comprehend trying to squeeze them all into one little Dailies blurb. Our advice is to keep your ears open for Charlie Day’s “men seeking men” line, it’s almost surely an instant classic. Insert the obligatory NOT SAFE FOR WORK warning here.
