A sequel to “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” is currently in the works with “Never Say Never” director Jon M. Chu behind the camera, and while Channing Tatum and Ray Park are already more or less confirmed for a return, there are some notable new names in the mix as well. For one, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has confirmed that he’ll be in the flick.
Additionally, THR reports that RZA and D.J. Cotrona are in negotiations to join “Cobra Strikes” as Blind Master (Snake-Eyes’ former trainer) and fan-favorite Flint, respectively. Elodie Yung was previously cast as the Joe ninja Jinx.
Ben Affleck Chooses Himself As “Argo’s” Leading Man
It worked out well for him in “The Town,” so why not try it again? Ben Affleck has cast himself as the lead character in his latest directorial effort, “Argo.” Variety has learned that Alan Arkin and John Goodman are also in final negotiations to star in the Tehran hostage crisis flick.
Guess “Who” Might Join “Game Of Thrones”
Here’s the best rumor we’ve heard all day: “Doctor Who’s” ninth doctor, Christopher Eccleston, might potentially be playing Stannis Baratheon in “Game of Thrones.” Den of Geek reports the possibility, and while it’s far from confirmed, it’s definitely a casting update we can get behind. Eccleston definitely looks like the tall, thin, grizzled Stannis we pictured from the books, and definitely fits the elder Baratheon’s description better than the previously rumored Gerard Butler did.
Leonardo DiCaprio Might Join “A Star Is Born”
According to Deadline, Leonardo DiCaprio and Clint Eastwood are building a pretty great relationship on the set of their J. Edgar Hoover biopic. So great, in fact, that the site is reporting that DiCaprio is in talks to join Beyonce in Eastwood’s next flick, a remake of “A Star Is Born.” Consider us intrigued.
Nicole Kidman Leads “The Paperboy” Switch Up
After Tobey Maguire and Sofia Vergara dropped out of Lee Daniels’ latest “The Paperboy” last week, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Nicole Kidman is the first actress to come forward and help fill the gap. She will replace Vergara as a woman with a dark side who writes letters to men on death row. At this point, former cast members Matthew McConaughey and Zac Efron are still on board as well.
Mark Wahlberg Circles “Broken City”
Mark Wahlberg may be picking up the gun again in Allen Hughes’s noir-style drama “Broken City.” Deadline has learned that he is in early talks to play an ex-cop-turned-private detective who is hired by the mayor to see if his wife is cheating In him, and gets caught up in a web of lies. Wahlberg would also be producing the flick.
Jamie Chung To Headline “Eden”
After earning her supporting actress cred in “The Hangover Part II” and “Sucker Punch,” The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Jamie Chung will getting her first leding role in Megan Griffith’s “Eden.” Also in negotiations is “Cogan’s Trade” star Scoot McNairy. The film is set to start shooting in Washington in August.
