'Muppets' Trailer Arrives, Tom Cruise 'Rock's Out

They've been green with envy, nursed a hangover and invaded the Green Lantern Corps. But now, it's time to really meet "The Muppets."

It still doesn't give us a very good idea of what the plot of "The Muppets" will be about, but at least the trailer advertises this actual movie. That means the trailer comes complete with plenty of musical set pieces, Chris Cooper, Amy Adams and Jason Segel sightings, and a whole lot of Muppets. Unlike what Adams' character says in the teaser, we doubt this is going to be a very short movie.

There's more movie news past the jump, including a new release date for "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and the first photo of Tom Cruise in "Rock of Ages."

The Moon Gets Dark Three Hours Early

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" would like to introduce you to the evening release. Instead of doing the typical midnight release on Wednesday June 29, the powers that be at Paramount have decided to release the movie exclusively in 3D and on 3D IMAX screens at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28. Mark your calendars and get ready to roll out!

The Girls Are Back In Tinseltown

"Little Miss Sunshine" producer David T. Friendly has written an editorial for The Hollywood Reporter about the "Bridesmaids" effect, and it's an interesting look from the inside on why the film did so well with both male and female audiences when it was released and the ripple-effects that that kind of success will bring. Check it out!

Michael Chabon To Pen "Magic Kingdom"

Jon Favreau's "Magic Kingdom" has finally found itself a writer. An early draft of the script was written by "Battlestar Galactica" showrunner Ron Moore, but now The Hollywood Reporter has news that Pulitzer Prize-winner Michael Chabon has joined the project. Though plot details are being kept under wraps, the film will take place at Disney's flagship theme park and may be connected to other parks worldwide.

Darren Aronofsky Goes Big With Noah's Ark Project

"I want to make a big event film, and I think it can be that," director Darren Aronofsky told IFC recently about his upcoming Noah's Ark project, adding that he doesn’t think it's a "very religious story." He also addressed the Christian Bale rumors that have been circling the film, replying "no comment" with a grin.

Tom Cruise Rocks Out

Move over Les Grossman, because Tom Cruise is back in rock star form. The first photo of Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, the famous rock star from "Rock of Ages," has hit the web, and he certainly looks the part. Just check out those abs, tattooes, skin-tight pants and killer boots. And that flowing mane of hair!
