MTV Movie Awards’ Generation Award Goes To ‘Water For Elephants’ Star Reese Witherspoon

FROM MTV MOVIES: There’s no question that Reese Witherspoon has had a wide-ranging and accomplished movie career, and at Sunday’s 2011 MTV Movie Awards, the Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning actress will add one more award to her already-crowded mantle. Witherspoon will receive this year’s Generation Award, previously bestowed upon superstars like Adam Sandler and last year’s recipient Sandra Bullock.

“Reese Witherspoon is one of the most versatile and accomplished performers of her time,” MTV President Stephen Friedman said in a statement. “Our viewers admire her for taking risks and for the breathtaking range of her roles. She fearlessly moves between dramas and comedies and always leaves everyone guessing what she’ll do next. We are thrilled to honor Reese with this year’s ’MTV Generation Award.'”
