Welcome To “Oz”
Variety reports that eleven-year-old Joey King has won the coveted role of China Girl in “Oz the Great and Powerful.” She’ll play a child made out of porcelain whose family was destroyed by the wicked witch Evanora, played by Rachel Weisz. Oz (James Franco) takes pity on China Girl and raises her as a surrogate daughter.
Bridges Is “R.I.P.D.”
What once was rumored now looks to be official: Jeff Bridges is joining Ryan Reynolds for “R.I.P.D.,” reports The Wrap. He’ll play one of the gunslinging members of an undead law enforcement squad that investigates the paranormal.
A New “Reunion”
The whole gang is back together for “American Reunion,” but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for some newcomers. “30 Rock” actress Katrina Bowden is joining the raunchy comedy, Variety reports. She’ll play the party-hard girlfriend to Chris Klein’s returning Oz.
THR confirms that Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale are joining Colin Farrell for “Total Recall,” and adds this awesome bit of news as well: Bill Nighy, who played Davy Jones in “Pirates of the Caribbean,” is on board to play Kuato, the mutant leader of the resistance. The Martian storyline from the original “Recall” is being tossed to the side for this new film, but hopefully there’s still room for this little gem:
(Note: any day that you get to promote Kuato singing “Chocolate Rain” is a very good day indeed.)
