'Hangover Part II': Bradley Cooper Was A 'Superb' Student, Says His 'Actor's Studio' Dean James Lipton

When MTV News was at the premiere of "The Hangover Part II" on Monday night (May 23) in New York City, we were pleasantly surprised to run into "Inside The Actor's Studio" host and the program's dean, James Lipton. We were even more pleasantly surprised when Lipton opened up about the movie's star, Bradley Cooper's, school boy days in the program.

"How about the fact that Bradley was my student?" he told MTV of his reasons for attending the "Hangover" premiere. "I was his Dean at the Actor's Studio Drama School and Bradley graduated from our school in 2000 and is the first of our students to come back and sit in that chair. He was superb. I knew then that he was going to be a star. I said so."

So, what did he study back in the day?

"His Master's Degree thesis was [on the 1980 flick] 'The Elephant Man' and he was just absolutely great at it," Lipton recalled. "He was such a stickler for research that he went to England and he retraced the steps of the real elephant man while he was a student at our school. He was a scholar."

Perhaps he can use those superb research skills this weekend in the "Hangover" sequel to try and retrace the night before along with his pals, played by Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms. Who says you don't learn stuff in school that you'll use in real life?
