Will 'The Walking Dead' And 'Judas' Star Norman Reedus Climb 'The Dark Tower'?

Things aren't looking good for "The Dark Tower," Ron Howard's ambitious film trilogy and television adaptation of Stephen King's best-selling novel series. After getting off to a nice start with Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem in the lead role of Roland Deschain, it now appears that the plug might be pulled over rising budget costs and some creative concerns.

But until official word comes down the line telling us that the Gunslinger's journey is completely off the table, we'll keep our eyes out for future "Dark Tower" developments... which brings us to today's tease of a potential new cast member.

Casting rumors are a dime a dozen these days, so when we were browsing "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus' IMDB page last week, we didn't pay too much mind to his supposed attachment to "The Dark Tower" as recovering junkie turned gunslinger Eddie Dean. We caught up with the actor and gave him the opportunity to shoot down the rumor, but instead, Reedus only fanned the fire.

"Um… no comment? That's what I say, right? No comment? No comment," he declared with a grin. "No comment," you say? That doesn't exactly sound like a denial to us! In fact, Reedus said he couldn't deny the rumors even if he wanted to.

"I can't even talk about it," he teased. "I don't know what's going on with 'Dark Tower.' I have no idea."

Very interesting. Reedus has the right looks and attitude for Eddie, but he's almost twenty full years older than the character in the books. (Aging Eddie up is always an option, I suppose.) Based on his comments, maybe there's something here — maybe Reedus really is joining "The Dark Tower," as Eddie or some other character. That's assuming the adaptation is still good to go, of course.

Regardless of his actual involvement, Reedus said he'd be thrilled to participate in anything having to do with King's masterwork: "[I'd sign up] in a heartbeat! I'd be super excited to do it. If I'm attached to it, you'll see me running down Times Square screaming at the top of my lungs."
