Joel Edgerton Will ‘Kill Bin Laden’ And Possibly Join ‘The Hunger Games’ In Today’s Casting Call

The question surrounding Kathryn Bigelow’s next film, titled “Kill Bin Laden,” is no longer “Will they still make it?” Rather, it’s a question of who will star in it, and Joel Edgerton has helped to answer that.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Edgerton has signed on for the film, which chronicles a failed mission to kill the terrorist leader in 2001. In it, he’ll reportedly play a special operative that’s part of an ensemble of male commandos. But, it’s not the only high-profile project the actor’s name is attached to.

The LA Times also writes that Edgerton is on the short-list of actors considered for “The Hunger Games.” (Could he be Haymitch? President Snow?) And while Edgerton is widely in demand, the star isn’t saying yes to everything that comes his way. The article also notes that he allegedly turned down the chance to play opposite Kristen Stewart in “Snow White and the Huntsman.”

Check out the rest of Friday’s biggest casting news in Hollywood, including the all-star cast to bring “Lincoln” to the masses.

The ’Lincoln’ Lineup
In case a biopic directed by Steven Spielberg about one of the greatest American presidents weren’t enough incentive, the names attached to the film should pique anyone’s interest. In addition to Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field, today Deadline posted more A-list stars who are all reportedly in negotiations to sign on. They include, Tommy Lee Jones, who would play Thaddeus Stevens, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who would play Abraham Lincoln’s eldest son. Other actors to possibly join the cast include Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill and Joseph Cross.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To ’Snow White’
“Snow White and the Huntsman” may have some early casting troubles, but it seems “The Brothers Grimm: Snow White” is riding along pretty smoothly. Relativity Media confirmed the news that both Nathan Lane and rising star Robert Emms have joined the cast which already includes Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer, and Lily Collins. Lane will play Brighton, the Queen’s servant, while Emms has been cast as Renbock, Prince Alcott’s valet.

Vince Vaughn Is A ’Favorite’
According to Deadline, Vince Vaughn has joined the cast of “Lay the Favorite.” The film, which will be directed by Stephen Frears and adapted from the Beth Raymer memoir of the same name, also stars Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Rebecca Hall. The movie will chronicle a legendary gambler (Willis), his wife (Zeta-Jones) and a woman he becomes involved with (Hall). Vaughn will play a bookie that Willis’ character once worked for.

Reverend Camden Versus ’Stooges’
Stephen Collins, best known for his work on the television series “7th Heaven,” has reportedly been cast in the role of Mr. Harter in “The Three Stooges.” ShowBlitz reported that news of Collins’ casting and also noted that his character, “shows up at the orphanage to adopt one of the stooges.” Whether that’s Larry, Moe, or Curly is still unknown.

’Twins,’ Too?
Whats Playing is reporting that there’s talk in Hollywood about a possible sequel to the 1988 comedy “Twins,” which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, as…you guessed it. Allegedly the two actors, as well as director Ivan Reitman “are all still in touch and want to work together again, Universal came to them about it. It’s a germ of an idea that could spread fast.”
