Enter Chris Hemsworth, the on-the-rise Australian actor set to star as the God of Thunder in this weekend’s “Thor.” Variety reports that Hemsworth is Universal’s favorite pick to star alongside Kristen Stewart in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” potentially ending a casting search that’s seen actors like Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman come and go. No official offer has been made yet, though the job is reportedly Hemsworth’s if he wants it — assuming his shooting schedule with “The Avengers” doesn’t get in the way.
After some whirlwind rumors late last week, it’s now official that “Memento” and “L.A. Confidential” star Guy Pearce has a role in Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus,” the currently shooting sci-fi epic that has as-yet unexplained ties to the “Alien” franchise. Great news for movie fans, bad news for… well, it’s only bad news if you don’t like things that are awesome.
“Gotti” Makes Levinson
If you thought Nick Cassavetes’ departure from “Gotti: Three Generations” had effectively whacked the project, think again. Variety reports that “Bugsy” director Barry Levinson is in negotiations to take over for the departed director, with production expected to begin this fall.
Snake-Eyes Breaks His Silence
Ray Park spoke with Latino Review about his upcoming work in the sequel to “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” revealing that he’s signed on to play Snake-Eyes over multiple films: “I’m signed up to do three movies, which I am happy about. When I heard when they were going to film my ’G.I. Joe’ movie and Snake Eyes was involved—I made as many phone calls to people I knew that might be able to help me. Just to get my name in through the doors to come in and audition. All I wanted to do is audition. I want to say, ’Hey, look. Just have a look at me. I want to do this.’ So I really wanted to play the part.”
