We brought you some of those highlights earlier, but the floodgates remain open well into the afternoon today, particularly with fascination over Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s apparent early knowledge of bin Laden’s death, and the successful mission’s eerie similarities with “Star Trek.”
But Obama was a fixture of the weekend’s headlines for other reasons, too: namely, the speech he delivered at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday evening, which included jabs at potential presidential rival and “Celebrity Apprentice” host Donald Trump. Several actors, writers and directors were impressed with Obama’s comedic chops, particularly in light of the bin Laden development just one day later.
Looking past politics, one “Fast Five” actor was over the moon with his movie’s huge debut, while Olivia Wilde identified a colleage who she won’t be making press rounds with again anytime in the near future.
I’m @roundhoward and this is Twitter-Wood for May 2, 2011.
