As reported by our friends at Hollywood Crush, a young actress by the name of Willow Shield will be playing the coveted role of Primrose Everdeen. The 12-year-old stars as the little sister of “Hunger Games” heroine Katniss, played in the film by Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence. Director Gary Ross said Shield will “make an amazing Prim and we’re very lucky to have her.”
Check out the rest of Thursday’s biggest casting news in the biz, including Catherine Zeta-Jones’ return to movie musicals and Kate Beckinsale (possibly) making a “Total Recall”!
Catherine Zeta-Jones Will “Rock” You
As “The Hunger Games” cast continues to expand, so does the one for “Rock of Ages.” It was announced yesterday that Oscar-winner Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Chicago“) has been given a part in Adam Shankman’s musical, and even if you’re familiar with the show, you won’t recognize her role. As Shankman explained to The Hollywood Reporter: “It’s a character that we only really came to in the last month,” describing her character as “if Tipper Gore and Anita Bryant had a love child.”
Kate Beckinsale Totally Recalls
Sorry Jessica Biel, but it looks like another Hollywood beauty could be taking your rumored spot in the remake of “Total Recall.” According to Deadline, Kate Beckinsale has been offered the part of leading lady Lori. While Beckinsale’s name is relatively new to the “Recall” casting, Rosario Dawson and Eva Mendes continue to be at the top of the list for the part of Melina.
Jake Johnson Moves To “21 Jump Street”
Jake Johnson, who most recently played a pal in “No Strings Attached“, will buddy up with his “Get Him To The Greek” co-star Jonah Hill again for the action comedy “21 Jump Street.” Variety writes that Johnson would be playing “a principal” in the big screen version of the classic television series, but whether that means a principal role or simply the school’s principal (though he would be an awfully young one) is uncertain.
…While Three Actors Make Moves To “Hemlock Drive”
Talk about prime real estate. According to Collider, Rosanna Arquette could have Susan Sarandon, Adam Brody, and brother David Arquette on board for her next directorial feature called “Hemlock Drive.” The stars are all in talks to appear in the dramedy about “an eccentric mother in Connecticut who learns she is dying and brings her three adult children back home for a weekend.”
Jacki Weaver To Go For Laughs In “Engagement”
Hot off her Best Supporting Actress nod, Deadline reports that “Animal Kingdom” star Jacki Weaver has joined the cast of the comedy “Five Year Engagement.” The Judd Apatow-produced flick, which also includes the likes of Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Chris Pratt and Alison Brie, follows an engaged couple and their long journey to the altar.
