Blake Lively Eyed For 'Oz' And 'Savages,' Michael Shannon Talks Zod In Today's Casting Call

Blake LivelyWith Jennifer Lawrence signed to "The Hunger Games," Blake Lively is ready to get savage.

Lawrence's departure from Oliver Stone's latest, "Savages," has opened the door for hot young Hollywood actresses from Olivia Wilde to Teresa Palmer to land the lead role, but now Variety has the news that Stone wants Lively to play main female character Ophelia. That's all well and good, except The Playlist has the news that she's also looking to join Mila Kunis and James Franco in "Oz: The Great and Powerful," so nothing is set in stone yet.

After the jump, Michael Shannon talks his casting as General Zod in "Superman," a main "American Pie" actress returns for their "Reunion" and Alec Baldwin and Jesse Eisenberg could be headed towards Woody Allen's latest.

Michael Shannon Talks Zod

Can't picture a casting process that would land Michael Shannon as Zack Snyder's General Zod for "Man of Steel"? Well, neither could he. "It just came out of nowhere, I'm talking to my agent, and she's like, 'How about "Superman"?' Like the idea that I would ever be in 'Superman,' " Michael Shannon says of his casting. "So I go meet [Snyder] and he's seriously sitting there and telling me, you can't read the script, so I'm just going to tell you what happens, and he spent seriously a half hour telling me every scene... I'm like, I'm on acid. This is the strangest thing. And then like a month later, I'm like General Zod."

Alyson Hannigan Back For More "Pie"

The latest original "American Pie" actor to return for "American Reunion" is Alyson Hannigan, who Deadline is reporting will have a pretty big role in the upcoming sequel. She joins Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eugene Levy for the fourth main "Pie" flick. According to Deadline, the large majority of the story revolves around her marriage and child with Biggs's character.

Alec Baldwin And (Maybe) Jesse Eisenberg Head To Rome With Woody Allen

Yet another exciting casting scoop coming from Deadline puts Alec Baldwin in the leading role for Woody Allen's untitled next film. It's the first time the two have worked together since 1990's "Alice." Rumor has it that Jesse Eisenberg is also up for a leading role as well, though Deadline could not confirm that casting tidbit. Though the plot is still under wraps, the movie news site had the scoop that Allen would be setting his latest in Rome.

Leonard Nimoy Returning To "Fringe"?

Though "Star Trek" star Leonard Nimoy was seemingly written out of "Fringe" after season two so he could retire from acting, it seems that all those rumors that he's headed back to the show for another appearance might be true after all. TV Line has a video with the cast, and they all appear quite certain that Nimoy himself, not just William Bell, would be back in the swing of things. "Believe me, Leonard Nimoy is back with us, in a form I am not prepared to talk about yet," John Noble teased. The plot thickens!

James McAvoy Is Welcomed "To The Punch"

In his follow-up to "X-Men: First Class," James McAvoy is in negotiations to star in the Eran Creevy written and directed thriller "Welcome To The Punch." Deadline has the news, saying that the flick is being described as "an epic crime thriller in the mould of 'Heat' or 'Internal Affairs'." McAvoy is also potentially lined up for the Wachowski's latest, "Cloud Atlas."
