He's faced vampires. He's faced fellow werewolves. Later this year, he'll go toe-to-toe against dangerous killers who don't want him unraveling a terrible conspiracy. But between all of these foes, Taylor Lautner has never stared down a greater threat than the nefarious Les Grossman.
Next Wednesday (April 13), MTV News is bringing you "MTV First: Taylor Lautner," a sit-down interview with the "Twilight" star where he'll answer your fan questions and premiere the first trailer for his upcoming action flick, "Abduction." And to mark the occasion, we're looking back at our top five all-time favorite MTV moments with Taylor in the days leading up to the big night.
Up first… his epic standoff against Tom Cruise's pot-bellied alter ego at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards!
In 2008's "Tropic Thunder," Cruise delivered quite the against-type turn in playing Grossman, an egomaniacal movie mogul with only three things on his mind: money, money and more money. So it's no surprise that Les, who returned to the mainstream in a series of videos promoting the Movie Awards, wasn't easily charmed by Taylor's need to put a job on the shelf in favor of attending his friend's wedding as the best man.
That said, Grossman isn't entirely unsympathetic to Taylor's scheduling conflict. The mega-producer brings in a tuxedo-clad body double to go to Taylor's wedding in the actor's place. There's just one tiny problem… they look nothing alike.
We love this clip not just because it's the hotly anticipated return of Les Grossman, but because it shows off Taylor's comedic chops so well. Who knows — maybe when his "Twilight" and "Abduction" days are behind him, he'll carve out some space for himself in the comedy world!
