'The Smurfs' Trailer Features Katy Perry, Gargamel And Lots Of Neil Patrick Harris

Get ready to be Smurfed.

The first theatrical trailer for "The Smurfs" hit the web today, and in our opinion it shows just the right balance of Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays with our little blue friends. While the previous teaser left us wanting much, much more, this one gave us a good sense of where the movie's heading.

In short, there are Smurfs. They get sent to New York City. Havoc and hilarity ensues. Check out our favorite moments from the trailer after the jump!

Katy Perry As Smurfette

There's certainly a colorful cast of voice actors working for this flick, but one of our favorite inclusions is pop singer Katy Perry. She gets showcased in this trailer as Smurfette, and her Marilyn Monroe moment is absolutely adorable.

Finally, finally Hank Azaria made his onscreen debut as Gargamel, and we couldn't be more pleased. He might be the bad guy, but his comic live action performance perfectly captured the character we loved so much from the cartoon. Could've used a little more Smurf-eating, though.

The Self-Awareness Of The Trailer

Yes, people, this is a movie about little blue Smurfs. But if there's one thing that we've liked from the marketing campaign so far is the tongue-in-cheek references to just how silly the whole concept of the movie is. Having the trailer set up as an alien invasion movie before turning into a comedy scores this flick points in our books.
