Simon Pegg Says New 'Blood And Ice Cream' Movie Could Arrive As Soon As Next Year

[Editor's Note: As much as we love "Blood and Ice Cream" as a title, Edgar Wright reached out to us to offer a quick correction: "FYI - the actual trilogy title (unofficial or otherwise) is Three Flavours Cornetto. Fact! 'Blood and Ice Cream' is an Internet reduction that stuck. It's our tribute to [Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kie?lowski of 'Three Colors'] through ice cream." Still sounds bloody delicious to us, Edgar!]

Don't take this the wrong way: we loved "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," we loved "Paul," but what we really hunger for is some more "Blood and Ice Cream."

No, we're not a pack of mad zombies who got our blood-hungry gums on some herbally-laced brains. We're talking, of course, about "The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy," a series of movies directed by Edgar Wright and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in the two lead roles. The first two films in the series — "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" — are more than deserving of their cult classic status, but success isn't without its drawbacks. In this case, the awesomeness of "Shaun" and "Fuzz" simply makes us desperate for news on the reportedly titled "The World's End," the third and as-yet unfilmed installment in the trilogy.

But we won't be hungry for long, according to Pegg, who told MTV News that we could see the elusive "Blood and Ice Cream" conclusion as soon as 2012.

"Edgar has coughed up that ['Scott Pilgrim'] furball and we're now in the process of regurgitating ['Paul'], so Edgar and I are planning to get together in the next few months to start working on the next in the 'Blood and Ice Cream' series," Pegg told us, adding that he hopes his good pal Frost will be "more involved in the creation of that."

"We're hoping — hoping, fingers crossed — maybe next year would be a good time to make it, even release it," he said.

But don't hold him to that time table. Pegg was quick to issue a warning: "We would like that in an ideal world, but it's not a fact, nor should it be disseminated as such." As he wisely points out, "On the Internet, you have a lot to answer for!"

Well, fact or not, you nonetheless put an irresistible but small amount of "Blood and Ice Cream" in our mouths, Mr. Pegg — and we're expecting at least eight additional scoops come 2012.
