First Look: Leonardo DiCaprio Rides Along In ‘J. Edgar’ Photo

We’re getting excited for “J. Edgar.” Really excited. Not only does the controversial FBI director have one of the most intriguing stories to tell of any recent historical figure, but just look at the talent lined up for this film: Clint Eastwood directing, Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role, actors like Armie Hammer and Naomi Watts among the supporting cast… without having seen a single shred of footage or set photography, we’re already hooked.

But we’re not without physical evidence for long. We’ve got a first look at DiCaprio in action as J. Edgar Hoover himself thanks to photographer Eric Ford (On Location News). Check out the full photo past the jump!

What’s going in this scene, you ask? Well, other than DiCaprio displaying his razor-sharp focus as a bicyclist, we’re told that Mr. Hoover has just exited his family home and promptly cycles his way down the street. In the background, you can see a blurry shot of Eastwood behind the lens. Not quite all hands on deck in this shot, but it’s at least a taste of two of the film’s most critical players. We’ll take that for now.

“J. Edgar,” currently in production, chronicles the life and times of the first director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Hoover held the office from 1935 until his death from a heart attack in 1972. Hammer co-stars in the film as Tyde Dolson, a man many believed was Hoover’s secret lover, while Watts plays Helen Gandy, Hoover’s secretary. The film debuts in 2012.
