Now to be fair, the film has yet to be officially greenlit and picked up by a major studio, but the fact that Kurtzman, Orci and Hood are all on-board and shopping the project bodes well for the big screen adaptation, which has been talked about/in development limbo almost as long as the book has been in print.
Orci officially broke the news via his Twitter account. He wrote: “Ender’s Game! Us (K/O), Oddlot, and Gavin Hood taking his amazing script to the town! Who wants some?”
Orci poses a tough question… which studio would be the best fit for “Ender’s Game?” Who has the most cred and creativity to get behind a project like this?
I know the fan community will have strong opinions on the subject. As much as I love the book and am fearful of how damaging a film version could be (as I am with ALL book-to-screen adaptations), I feel as though film technology and Hollywood have come far enough to do Card’s wonderous story proud. Especially if they keep Card involved, since he was rumored to have drafted a screenplay that Hood supposedely wanted to work with…
