When McBride and Theroux stopped by MTV News' skybox at New York Comic Con, they joked that they had to convince studio brass that Portman was beautiful enough to be in the film, a raunchy medieval comedy in which two princes, one heroic (James Franco) and the other lazy (McBride), team up to save their father's kingdom. "A lot of people don't know this, but Natalie Portman is very beautiful," McBride deadpanned when asked how Portman came aboard the project.
Adds Theroux: "I had said to Danny, 'You know who we should get for that part? Natalie Portman because she's hot.' And then people were like, 'I don't know.' And I said, 'Mark my words, Natalie Portman is going to be beautiful in this film, and she is a beautiful person. And the studio was like, 'Well, I don't know if we can clean her up.'"
"We said, 'Justin thinks she can be beautiful, a we're going to trust him on this.' And it worked out for us. Because she was. She was gorgeous," said McBride.
"She ended up being beautiful," Theroux concurred.
McBride went on to reveal a bit about Portman's character Isabel, a warrior princess who catches the wandering eye of McBride's Prince Thaddeus. "She's not like the chambermaids that let [Thaddeus] take them from behind," he laughed. "She's a whole new deal. He likes what he can't have."
