Proposition 8 Overturned! Our Favorite Fictional Same-Sex Couples!

Have you heard the news? A federal judge has reportedly overturned California's same-sex marriage ban, also known as Proposition 8. In honor of this happy occasion, we present (in no particular order) our top five favorite fictional same-sex couples.

ENNIS DEL MAR and JACK TWIST/ "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN"

The overused "I wish I knew how to quit you" catchphrase notwithstanding, these two rough-around-the-edges cowboys broke our hearts, along with the mold for stereotypical gay couples.

TARA and WILLOW/ "BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER"

Not only sweet and unassuming, the Tara and Willow relationship was one of the more prominent and groundbreaking lesbian couples to appear on mainstream TV.

STANFORD and ANTHONY/ "SEX AND THE CITY"

A case of polar opposites attract. Who would have thought that everyone's favorite gay best friends, -- Carrie and Charlotte's to be specific -- would end up together in the end?

NIC and JULES/"THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT"

Two of Hollywood's most talented and respected actresses, Annette Bening and Julianne Moore, bring easy charm and relatability to a modern-day lesbian couple with everyday problems - specifically, juggling work and raising two teenage children.

HOLDEN and SEAN/"VALENTINE'S DAY"

*Spoiler alert! Whoops, might be too late. Either way, the deliciousness of this couple's final scene in the film made the rest of the highly predictable, cringe-worthy 125 minutes worthwhile. What can I say? This writer is a sucker for pretty boys.

**BONUS** ADAM and MARK/"GO"

What at first appeared as peculiar casting later proved to be the major highlight of this zany 1999 drug/heist film. The fact that Scott Wolf's Adam and Jay Mohr's Mark were closeted soap opera actors only added to the fun.
