Johnny Depp Promises Zombies And Mermaids For 'Pirates 4' In His San Diego Comic-Con Non-Appearance

UPDATE: We've been asked to pull the SDCC clip, as it was not officially shared. I've been told though to expect some cool happenings for "Pirates 4" in the socialsphere in the coming weeks and months, so definitely stay tuned.

Johnny Depp is busy shooting "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" right now, so he wasn't able to hit up San Diego Comic-Con last week. Not as you'd expect him to anyway.

Instead of a proper panel appearance Depp instead recorded a pre-taped message, in 3-D no less, for the crowd gathered at Disney's SDCC panel. There's no footage to see from the movie, but Depp-as-Sparrow is featured hanging out in a lush tropical setting with a mostly full bottle of rum. He proceeds to prepare us all for what to expect from "On Stranger Tides," which hits theaters on May 20, 2011. Zombies and mermaids, apparently. What about zombie mermaids though? I can dream, right? I've embedded the Depp/Sparrow SDCC appearance after the jump, for those who weren't in San Diego to catch it firsthand.
