‘Buried’ Trailer Surfaces With A Confident Nod To Alfred Hitchcock

You might remember back in June when we debuted a fairly excellent poster for director Rodrigo Cortes’ Sundance favorite “Buried,” which stars Ryan Reynolds as a kidnapped contractor in Iraq who wakes up to find that he’s been sealed in a wooden box beneath the ground with nothing more than a lighter, a cellphone and the clothes on his back.

The June poster debut wore its Alfred Hitchcock influence proudly, immediately earning comparisons to similar posters for the master director’s classic, “Vertigo.” The new trailer, embedded below, maintains the same aesthetic. I love it, and can’t wait to see the movie, which opens in limited release on September 24 and then goes wide on October 8.
