Sure, there are the battle sequences and Harry’s confrontation(s) with Voldemort, as well as the Gringott’s break-in and aerial Death Eaters chase sequence from the beginning of “Part 1,” but we’re betting that you missed a lot of the other teases hidden in there (unless you took the time to go through it frame-by-frame like we did). Here’s a look at some of the easy-to-miss moments hidden inside the trailer. Be warned, some spoilers await you after the jump.
The scene of Hermione in her red dress, walking around London with Harry and Ron, takes place pretty clearly after the short-lived wedding ceremony between Fleur Delacour and Bill Weasley. But the scene that has us scratching our heads is at 1:55 when Harry seems to be attacking someone inside a diner. We realized that this takes place after the wedding as well, when Harry utters Voldemort’s name and brings upon them an attack by the Death Eaters, sending the trio into hiding for a good portion of the book.
At first glance, it seems as though Harry, Ron and Hermione’s break in to the Ministry of Magic (one of the major events in “Part 1″) was ignored in the trailer, but there are actually two pretty clear shots at 1:24 and 1:46 of Ron being chased out of the building by a Ministry official.
Harry and Hermione decide to go to Godric’s Hollow, the town where Harry’s parents lived when they were killed, and the origin point of several other important characters. At 1:00, Hermione can be seen walking into Godric’s Hollow and, though he can’t be seen in the trailer, Harry is walking in next to her under his invisibility cloak.
It takes about half a second for this scene to flash by, but around the 1:47 mark you can see Nagini (Voldemort’s snake and another of his Horcruxes) fling herself across a room in Bathilda Bagshot’s house and attack Harry. We’re trying to keep this post relatively spoiler-free, but let’s just say that this is a pretty important scene.
A large part of Voldemort’s journey throughout the book concerns his search for the mythical Elder Wand, which is the most powerful of all wands. Major spoiler alert: it was actually owned last by Dumbledore, and buried with him. At 1:29, Voldemort can be seen right after he steals the wand from Dumbledore’s grave, firing a victory shot up into the air.
The Room of Requirement has a major role to play in the second half of “Deathly Hallows,” but unfortunately it ends up in flames. There are several shots shown of Harry, Ron and Hermione trying to escape the room, as well as Draco Malfoy and his lackeys, Crabbe and Goyle, trapped in it.
This one we can’t say we’re completely positive on, but in the quick shot of Snape leaning away from the camera at 1:55, it sure looks to us like he’s about to be attacked by Nagini in the Shrieking Shack. We’re hard-pressed to think of another instance (except maybe in flashbacks) that Snape would find himself in such a predicament, unless his banishment from Hogwarts by the school’s professors makes its way into the film.
What were some of your favorite moments in the trailer? Are there any quick teases that we missed that you thought were important?
