"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" is arguably the biggest video game adaptation yet to come out of Hollywood. Between an all-star cast (Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton), a rock-solid director (Mike Newell) and one of the biggest producers on the planet (Jerry Bruckheimer), it's got a great chance for success in a sub-genre that has, to this point, been largely populated with mediocre-to-terrible offerings.
To help us cover the run-up to Friday's release, David Hayer has kindly made time in his busy schedule to serve as the guest editor this week on MTV Movies Blog. While he isn't directly involved with "Persia," Hayter is a unique figure in the industry for his memorable gigs in both the video game and film industries. Before penning scripts for "X-Men," "X2: X-Men United" and "Watchmen," Hayter was perhaps best-known for providing the iconic voice of "Metal Gear Solid" series star Solid Snake. With such extensive experience in both mediums, Hayter is the ideal person to commentate as the release of "Prince" approaches.
So please, everyone, welcome Hayter to the blog. I'll be running the first post from our lengthy, far-ranging interview last week later today.
