"The Hangover" was such a huge success last summer that it was almost immediately greenlit for a sequel. Director Todd Phillips took over writing the script on this one, and as of December, 2009 he was halfway done. "I think you can take those characters and put them in other situations, and you don't need the sell of Vegas and a bachelor party and all that other stuff," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the time. MTV's Josh Horowitz recently spoke with Zach Galifianakis on the set of "Bored To Death" about his MTV Movie Awards "Hangover" nomination for Best Male Breakout Star and he got a little bit of an update on what's going on with the sequel.
"I think we're shooting it in autumn," he said with a little grin. "Some people say fall, but we're shooting it in autumn."
Josh asked, is there a script?
"There is," Galifianakis replied succinctly. Josh pressed. Zach responded. Reluctantly.
"...I can't speak... because every time I open my mouth about it I get in trouble. So I have to be quiet. Honestly, I get yelled at." So no details, but maybe Mr. G would be willing to give his opinion on the script?
"Well I'm certainly not going to say it's not good. I think it's going to be up there with the first one. So far, of what I've read."
