"Suck." It's as tragic a title as I've ever heard, but the movie it sits on top of has me intrigued. It's a vampire comedy following loser band The Winners, whose luck turns around after their bassist Jennifer (Jessica Pare) enjoys a night of blood-spattered vampire love and returns a new woman. The changed bad enjoys great success... until they draw the attention of the feared vampire Eddie Van Helsing (Malcolm McDowell).
Okay, there's more tragedy up there than the title. That's okay. It doesn't spell doom for "Suck." From the sound of things, "Suck" seems to be embracing its, uh, suck, and running with it. Remember: bad can be good when it's done right. Look at "Crank." Or "Transporter." Or hopefully "Suck," when it premieres at Toronto Film Festival next month.
I will say, I'm kind of disappointed that the rock stars referenced in the headline aren't the members of The Winners. How amazing would that be, a vampire comedy starring Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins and Moby as the rock star blood-suckers? Hopefully, at least one of them will be turned and subsequently wreak havoc on an adoring public. Head over to MTV.com for Gil Kaufman's rundown of the casting, soundtrack and more.
Soooooo.... "Suck"? Any interest?
