Variety submits for your approval that DiCaprio and his Appian Way production company will team with Warner Bros. to bring “The Twilight Zone” back to the big screen. They dusted off the property last year, but are taking the first steps of pre-production by hiring screenwriter Rand Ravich (“The Astronaut’s Wife”) to pen a script. DiCaprio is in good company in revisiting Rod Serling, as Steven Spielberg and John Landis (“An American Werewolf in London”) produced the 1983 movie, and both directed segments for the creepy, four-part feature.
Right now it is unknown whether “Zone” will feature a fresh and eerie tale, or if it’ll follow the Spielberg/Landis approach of remaking Serling’s original stories. With 156 episodes of “The Twilight Zone” to chose from, there are plenty of options. I’m half hoping that DiCaprio decides to pull double duty, going in front of the camera to redo “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.” Every generation needs a new version of that classic tale, don’t you think? From William Shatner to John Lithgow… to Leonardo DiCaprio. Yup, I see it.
Are you up for a new journey into “The Twilight Zone”? What were some of your favorite episodes? Which ones would you like to see redone on the big screen?
