'Saw 4' Murder Tool Not For Use At Home In Today's eBay Prop-Watch

Saw IVAnother real, actual movie prop for you today, complete with a certificate of authenticity. I suspect this will fall outside what many of you might be willing to spend, but it's cool enough that I thought it deserved an eBay Prop-Watch shout.

In case you haven't heard, the "Saw" horror franchise is pretty popular. I think it has something to do with the excessive gore, and the creative ways it is realized on the silver screen. Jigsaw, the serial killer antagonist at the heart of the series, has a thing for teaching his victims painful lessons. Excruciatingly painful ones, of the sort which would make a quick death seem like a welcome relief. In fact, that's what today's prop is all about.

Saw IV

This item is the Spike Gun Trap from "Saw IV." To be honest, I haven't worked up the nerve to see any of these movies. It takes a special kind of horror-lover to stomach the gore-nography on display in the likes of "Saw," "Hostel" and their ilk, and I'm just not that guy.

As far as I can tell, this baby is used during the movie to secure a husband and wife back to back to a pole in a classroom. His vital organs are pierced but hers aren't, which means she can save herself and lose her husband. Or they can both bleed out. You don't actually see the Spike Gun used to secure the duo, but it gets some action later in killing a photographer. Oh yeah... spoilers.

The Spike Gun Trap prop includes a certificate of authenticity and a hefty asking price. The Buy It Now or Best Offer auction has set the asking price at 2,000 clams. Or whatever legal tender passes for U.S. dollars these days. A bit much to spend on a prop in these uncertain times, even if you DO get a working torture device in the process.
