EXCLUSIVE: Amy Poehler Latest Chipette to Join 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' Sequel

Amy PoehlerEver since we broke the news that the sequel to the smash flick “Alvin and the Chipmunks” would be introducing the Chipettes, we’ve been working to uncover the top-secret identities of the girlfriend trio that will make sweet music alongside Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Recently, Justin Long revealed to us that two of the gals will be voiced by Anna Faris and Christina Applegate. Now, we finally know the identity of that mysterious third Chipette.

Number three is Amy Poehler, as revealed to us by “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” star Zachary Levi when we caught up with him on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.

“They’re some very funny ladies, so it’s exciting that they were able to get that much more talent involved,” Levi said of the three now-confirmed Chipettes. "Squeakquel" also brings back Long, Jesse McCartney and Matthew Gray Gubler to voice the Chipmunks of course. “We just wrapped ["Squeakquel"]; it’ll be out at Christmas.”

The “Chuck” star also shot down reports that he was replacing Jason Lee, insisting that the star of the recently-cancelled “My Name is Earl” will in fact be appearing alongside him in the next "Chipmunks" movie. “Jason Lee is back,” he explained. “Jason plays Dave [Seville] and –- through a series of events I won’t disclose –- he is unable to take care of the Chipmunks like he did in the first movie. So I am able to take that role -– I’m his burnout cousin Toby.”

“The first ["Chipmunks"] did gangbusters at the box-office, and I’m hoping the second one does just as well if not a bit better,” Levi added. “It’s a great family movie, I think people will really enjoy it. And the people who are behind it, the Bagdasarians –- their family created the Chipmunks and have kept [the franchise] going for 50 years. They’re an incredible family, they really stay true to the roots for this film, and the storyline is fantastic.”

What do you think of the three famous blondes who’ll voice Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor? Good casting, or would you have gone with Miley Cyrus or another of the other previously rumored stars?
