Director Sacha Gervasi's documentary "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" has been making all sorts of festival-goers happy since it premiered at Sundance this year. At "The Story of Anvil's" heart are high school pals and Anvil founders Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner (no relation). High praise has followed the movie basically everywhere since its Sundance premiere, and it is reasonable to expect even now that we'll be seeing it pop up again on at least a few end-of-year "best of" lists.
One of the coolest things about "Anvil!" is the impact it has had on the band. The film has essentially given the Anvil a second crack at rock stardom; the once-obscure Canadian metal band is officially a part of the public consciousness. The attention has even driven Lips and Reiner to start work on a new album. Not that they're in the studio right now. As these pictures show, the pair are busy promoting Gervasi's take on their story at Cannes. And by "busy," I mean relaxing along the French Riviera.
