A title is all we have to go on for the moment, as the WB announcement made no mention of the film’s plot or casting. As hard as it is to imagine anyone other than Penn and co-star John Cho — who will be hard to miss as Hikaru Sulu in this weekend’s “Star Trek” — stepping into the shoes of the titular stoners, it’s a distinct possibility given the public nature of Penn’s new job in the White House Office of Public Liaison.
That said, Hurwitz and Schlossberg have proven themselves to be sharp writers and the Christmas backdrop is traditionally a good one for comedies (see also: “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”, “Scrooged”, “A Christmas Story”). Cho and Penn may or may not return, but the high comedy certainly will come November ’10.
What say you all? Can you stomach the idea of a not-Cho and a not-Penn as Harold & Kumar? Can you think of any other actor pairings who could make the Hurwitz/Schlossberg brand of comedy work?
