WHO: John August

WHAT: "Go" (writer), "Charlie's Angels" (2000, writer), "Big Fish" (writer)

10. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), "Silence of the Lambs" -- If he can't eat you, he'll find a way to get you to eat yourself.

9. The Borg, "Star Trek: First Contact" -- A cheat, really, because they were scarier when they were first introduced on TNG.

8. Veronica (Winona Ryder), "Heathers" -- She makes bad choices, but outlasts psycho-boy.

7. William Munny (Clint Eastwood), "Unforgiven" -- Really, any Eastwood character. But having nothing to live for is a form of immortality.

6. The Monster, "Cloverfield" -- Godzilla's deformed cousin.

5. Predator, "Predator" -- Why hunt humans? For sport. At least Predator gets on the ground, not like those helicopter cowards in Alaska.

4. Alex Forrest (Glenn Close) "Fatal Attraction" -- She's not going to be ignored, Dan.

3. Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) "Misery" -- A little needy perhaps, but she's a self-sufficient and take-charge.

2. Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) "The Talented Mr. Ripley" -- Yes, he feels terrible about the people he kills. But that doesn't stop him.

1. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) "Aliens" -- Duct tape? Check. Flamethrower? Lit. I would follow her anywhere.
