“I’m barely keeping up,” laughed the actress, who transformed into a brunette for the role in the film about clashing couples at a vacation resort. “It’s called ’Couples Retreat,’ and it’s going to be coming out next year, probably late summer. We’re just finishing that up; we’ve been working on that for the past two months.”
The flick reunites Favs and Vaughn for the third time after “Swingers” and “Made” (not counting cameos), and Akerman insisted that the duo still has their comedic timing down. “They’re fantastic to watch; they just go for it…they really bring you to the next level,” she explained of the duo’s established repartee. “It keeps you on your toes. You have to try and keep up, but if you’re able to, it feels pretty good.”
Speaking of keeping up, Akerman clued us in on one of the movie’s big comedic scenes – which has the stars competing with each other at high speeds. “We got to do a jet-skiing sequence, and we had a little fun on the jet skis. Those guys are a bit nuts when it comes to anything, really, so that was a fun day just shooting around the island on jet skis and doing tricks and falling off jet skis.”
“I was behind Vince – and Jon and Kristin Davis were on the other one,” she remembered of the scene. “And that was a surreal moment, shooting around Bora Bora on jet skis with Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau. That was great.”
In your opinion, where do Favs and VV rank amongst Hollywood’s all-time comedic duos?
