Oscars Carpet Was A Winter Wonderland: Red Carpet Recap

While most people were talking about all the red gowns (hi, women's heart health month!) on tonight's Oscars red carpet, if you actually counted dresses, the number of women wearing white or nearly-white gowns far out numbered the red ones. Besides, isn't red-on-red usually an Oscars red carpet taboo?

The who's who of fashion seemed to find inspiration this year in the season. Penelope Cruz, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Miley Cyrus and many more leading ladies helped to make the carpet into a winter wonderland. (Check out photos of the gowns after the jump, and see the rest of our Oscars red carpet photo gallery right here.)

Red carpet veterans Penelope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker and Marissa Tomei all wore nearly-white, flowing dresses. All were fitted bottices, with flowing skirts, the women really stood out as some of the best dressed on tonight's carpet.

Oscar newcomers Taraji P. Henson and Miley Cyrus also shone in their long, white gowns. And, in a bit of a fashion surprise, Mickey Rourke also wore the color of the carpet. Way to go, sir!

However, not everyone wore white. Check out our Oscar red carpet photo gallery, because there were plenty of jaw-dropping dresses in bright colors. Look out for gorgeous gowns from Friday Pinto, Angelina Jolie, Vanessa Hudgens, Natalie Portman and more!
