Bill Nighy Still Waiting For David Yates' 'Harry Potter' Casting Call

Bill NighyThe casting rumors that swirl around Harry Potter films are nearly as thick as the books themselves – and some of them are so ideally suited for the characters that it’s a mystery why it doesn’t happen.

When “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” was being cast, rumors swirled that Bill Nighy would be cast as Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour. There were even fan petitions trying to get him the part – but all in vain, as “Half-Blood Prince” filmed without an appearance from Nighy. So when MTV News caught up with Nighy, we asked him what became of his rumored part.

“No, I don't know anything about ‘Harry Potter.’ I think I am the only remaining English actor not to work in ‘Harry Potter.’ I'm taking it in stride though.”

Well, maybe not entirely in stride. “I've worked David Yates three times. He never writes. He never calls. He's lousy," Nighy joked.

Even though he didn't make the Hogwarts roster, Nighy still has good things to say about the helmer. “I think David Yates is one of the most talented directors working today. I've worked with him on 3 different projects and they were all very different. He created a world for each one. He's profoundly gifted. Whatever he wants, I'll do.”

Do you still wish Bill Nighy was recruited for "Half-Blood Prince" or are you satisfied with the current outcome?
