Carrell will play the lead, an unpleasant (some might say despicable) man named Groo, who comes up with one heck of a heist plan — he wants to steal the moon. Luckily, he has the backing of his equally evil mother (voiced by Andrews). The only flaw comes by way of three orphan girls, who somehow come under his undoubtedly lousy care, and won’t leave.
Since this voice cast only features one other girl, will one of the boys be crossplaying? The rest of the roles remain under wraps, but you can’t deny that they’ve managed to cast the funniest people from television and film.
Producer Chris Meledandri (who previously worked with Carrell on “Horton Hears a Who”) says the spirit and inspiration of the film came from watching family films with his kids, and discovering they always loved the villains best. The film is being geared for a 2010 release.
Well, kids — excited to see the villain become the hero? Can you be convinced to see this just to enjoy the voice of the ever popular Russell Brand?
