Rob Schneider gross-out comedies are a staple of the film year. I don't know if that's a good thing, but we're never without one. According to Variety, he'll be starring in "Virgin on Bourbon Street" alongside Jenna Dewan ("Step Up") and Brianne Davis ("Jarhead"). After all, it's not a Schneider film without a few hot actresses. It will be directed by Claire Kilner, who we last saw behind "The Wedding Date."
"Virgin" follows a sexually abstinent college student, presumably played by Dewan, who finds her entire academic career threatened by one night of debauchery. (Where the heck does she go to school? The Middle Ages?)
Judging from the title, I'm guessing the debauchery occurs in New Orleans, and probably at Mardi Gras, where the tasty drinks and free beads are fatal even to the purest of heart. It's not clear where Schneider fits into the plot -- is he the one responsible for the debauching? Perhaps it's that little fact that threatens the college student more than her night of partying.
You won't have long to wonder, as the movie begins shooting this week in Detroit. That's either the worst stand-in ever for New Orleans, or I'm completely wrong as to the meaning of the title.
Are you up for watching Schneider and Dewan engage in gross-out jokes and, possibly, romance? Or will you stay as far away from this movie as possible?
