It sounds like the campy plot will remain unaltered, but will be updated. It still centers on young martial arts student Leroy Green, as he goes on a quest through the New York streets (*the* place to learn martial arts) to achieve the highest level of martial arts accomplishment, The Last Dragon of the title. Those who earn the Dragon ranking also possess the Glow, which makes them the greatest fighter alive.
The film is full of neon lights, hilarious one liners, and charming Bruce Lee references — our hero Green is so devoted to his idol that he eats popcorn with chopsticks. What can I say? It’s the kind of movie that midnight showings were invented for.
And while the late Julius Carry hardly left the character of Sho’Nuff wanting, he’s the kind of over the top villain Jackson excels at. Yes, he’ll get to say “mofo,” and often. And if they don’t add Jackson’s favorite swearword to the end of the immortal “Kiss my Converse” line, then I don’t know what will become of the world.
Well, readers? Excited to see Jackson add to his list of bad mofos? Or do you prefer “The Last Dragon” to be left alone, in all its campy glory?
