We know how you MTV readers love your "Twilight" stars -- and if their careers keep surging like this, we may have to create a "Twilight Thursday" just to keep up. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ashley Greene (better known as Alice Cullen), has joined the cast of Anthony Burns' indie film "Skateland." Greene will be joined by Haley Ramm, James LeGros, and Taylor Handley, with Shiloh Fernandez in talks to play the lead character.
"Skateland" is a coming-of-age drama set in a small town in the 1980s. It follows a young man named Ritchie Wheeler, who's left unemployed when the local roller-rink shuts down. As if that's not enough, he faces some tough decisions about his future, his parents' divorce, and problematic relationships with his sister Mary, his friends Brent and Kenny, and Brent's sister, Michelle. Greene will play the part of Michelle and I am betting the lovely actress ends up Wheeler's love interest.
The movie's production suggests the plot might reflect a personal story -- Burns wrote the screenplay with executive producer Brandon Freeman and his brother, Heath, who also plays Brent in the film. I don't know if a roller rink was involved in their past, but I wouldn't be surprised if Brent, Kenny, and Ritchie match their film makers just a bit.
"Skateland" begins shooting this month in Louisiana, meaning you "Twilight" fans can look out for Greene's movie to be released sometime next year.
Are you "Twilight" fans excited to see your Cullens branching out into other films? Will you be seeing "Skateland" purely for Greene, or does the retro story intrigue you?
