Paul Rudd Quashes ‘Ghostbuster’ Rumors BUT Says ‘I Would Do It In A Second’

It’s the one recent rumor that won’t die. Not only is there going to be a “Ghostbusters 3,” and not only is it going to star all four original cast members, but the Judd Apatow approved quartet of Seth Rogen, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and Romany Malco are going to also star, at some point taking the reins of the franchise.

So when there’s something strange, on the internet — who you gonna call? Paul Rudd*(check out our full Paul Rudd interview here), of course, who not only killed the rumor when we caught up with him recently, but blasted it with his proton pack, trapped it in his containment unit, and deposited it in that power thingy in the basement, readying it for release by some jerkwad from the EPA.

“I’ve heard this rumor. A couple of days ago somebody asked me that and that was the first I’d heard about it. It’s incredibly flattering to be in a rumor,” Rudd said. “I would do it in a second with those guys. But do you think it’s a good idea to redo ’Ghostbusters’? It’s a classic.”

So the rumor’s done for now, until the next time it pops up, of course. But let’s suppose for a moment that it were real. Which of the Ghostbusters would Rudd most like to play? Venkman? Stanz? Egon?

“I’d like to be Sigourney Weaver,” Rudd laughed. “Or maybe we can mix in the sequel and I can do a Peter McNichol thing. I remember thinking, That’s the same guy from ’Sophie’s Choice!’ It seemed so weird.”

*(Seriously, though, don’t call Paul Rudd).

All-star fantasy line-up time: Rudd won’t be in a “Ghostbusters” movie, but if you could have your pick, who would you like to see in one? Who could fill in for the iconic original four? Sound off below.
